Paula Naoufal (Arabic: بولا نوفل ) is an award-winning Lebanese journalist.[1] and Presenter based in Dubai. Paula is currently a senior reporter at CNN Business Arabic. She also moderates panels and is a digital content creator.

Career[edit]

Paula Naoufal is a is an award-winning journalist[2] and Senior Reporter at CNN Business Arabic[3] with over a decade of experience in media and communications. She also hosts programs, including "Debt and Credit"[4] and a personal finance program. Paula's expertise encompasses live reporting and broadcasting, with a specific focus on business news. She has covered major on-ground events, including the OPEC+ meetings in Vienna, the World Economic Forum in Davos, the FII in Saudi Arabia, and more.[5]

She has conducted interviews with heads of state, government officials, and CEOs, including the President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Rashid[6], the CEO of Aramco, Amin Nasser, the Indian Minister of Petroleum, Hardeep Singh Puri[7], the executive director of the IEA, Fatih Birol[8], and various GCC ministers[9]. Additionally, Paula has moderated several panels across the region[10], [11] and she has received international journalism awards [12]. Paula also writes articles and opinion columns. Her work is published in various Newspapers and websites such as AB Magazine[13], the Wilson Center[14], amongst others[15][16][17].

Before her current position at CNN Business Arabic, Paula held roles at institutions such as Asharq News with Bloomberg[18], Annahar Newspaper[19], and the United Nations Headquarters in New York[20]. Paula has also covered the 17 October Revolution in 2019 and was involved in an incident whereby she was attacked by Lebanese parliamentary police, which was captured in a viral video[21][22][23]

Education[edit]

Paula is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Media and Communication at Leicester University[24]. She also holds a master's degree in Risk Analysis from King's College London and she completed her bachelor's degree in political science and international affairs at the Lebanese American University. During her time at the Lebanese American University, Paula co-founded 'Ghayir[25][26],' a student movement at the Lebanese American University. 'Ghayir' focused on youth empowerment and advocated for candidates during student council elections at the university.

Awards[edit]

Paula Naoufal won the 2023 International Energy Journalism Award[27] in the print/radio category of Arabic-language reporting on Middle East energy matters. Paula received the award for her contributions to the field of energy journalism from the Crown Prince of Fujairah, Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi.
