Phariha is a village located in the Azamgarh district of the Uttar Pradesh state in India. This village holds significant importance due to its strategic location at a chowk (intersection) where four major routes converge.
Geography[edit]
Phariha is situated 250 km away from the state capital, Lucknow, and 802 km from the national capital, New Delhi.
Transportation[edit]
Phariha's chowk connects the village to various major routes:
- One route leads from Phariha to Shahganj, Jaunpur.
- Another route connects to the NH 233 highway, a four-lane road that runs from Lumbini, Nepal to Varanasi.
- One route connects Phariha to Nizamabad.
- Another route leads to Azamgarh.
Phariha has its own railway station, Phariha Railway Station[2], which is part of the North Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. It falls under the Varanasi railway division and is located on the Mau-Shahganj line. The Phariha Railway Station is a vital point on this railway line.
Notable residents[edit]
Phariha is the home of the Islamic scholar Hamiduddin Farahi, known for his contributions to Quranic studies and exegesis[3]. It is also the maternal home of Islamic scholar and historian, Shibli Nomani.[4][5]
