Philippe Cambie (21 January 1962 – 18 December 2021) was a French oenologist. He died on 18 December 2021, at the age of 59.[1][2]
Philippe Cambie was born on 21 January 1962. He was the son of Yves Cambie and Jacqueline Blasco Villalonga. He grew up in the Montplaisir estate in Castelnau-de-Guers which is the property of his father.
He first obtained a university degree in technology (DUT) in the food industry in Montpellier, and then went to the National School of Agricultural and Food Industries. During his studies, he deepens his knowledge of microbiology in order to increase his mastery of the winemaking process. He completed his training with a diploma in oenology obtained at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Montpellier in 1986.[3][4]
After much experience in the wine industry, from bottling in the Vaucluse to trading in Bordeaux and the north of France or by trade in the south of France to mastering production in Roussillon, he started a consulting activity in 1998 within the ICV/VVS Group where he was employed until his death. The Rhône Valley sector of the ICV group developed in the early 2000s to go from 2 to 8 oenologists and consultant agricultural engineers and moved to Beaumes-de-Venise with a capacity of 1,000 analyzes per day.
