Pikwizard is a provider of free stock photos, images, videos and templates. It was founded in Ireland in 2016 and today has a library of over 1 million photos and videos that can be used either with Zero or Creative Commons License by various users, including designers and marketers.
Pikwizard provides different types of media that can be downloaded for free: stock photos, videos, and templates, created by in-house designers. In-house design solution distinguishes the platform from others, which tend to use external authors’ works.
The platform includes an integration with DesignWizard Graphics Editor, which allows users to enhance and customize images before exporting. This editor includes basic features like cropping and adding text, along with pro-level templates for designing marketing materials.
While all content on Pikwizard is available for free, and no registration is required to access it, registering for an account provides additional features like email newsletters with new stock material and access to photo sharing and favorites folders.
History[edit]
Pikwizard was founded by Sean Prior[1][2] in 2016 and is owned by Wavebreak Media Ltd. The images library was founded with a vision to provide quality content in a free and easy way to new emerging users of stock media.
Business model[edit]
Every category and search results page contains “premium” materials provided by partners’ affiliate programs and are linked to their platforms.
The content on Pikwizard is distributed under either a Free or CC0 license, and while the user agreement is detailed and complex, it allows for the free use of images and videos, with certain restrictions on redistribution and use of images featuring real people.
The free graphics library also contains a blog with articles on design, writing, marketing, and advice for freelancers, although it lacks a content search feature or categories.
License[edit]
Like many other free pictures libraries (Unsplash, Pexels, etc.) PikWizard offers its content under Zero (Free) and CC0 Creative Commons licenses.
Staff[edit]
The Pikwizard staff consists of around 10 developers and content creators and is growing on a monthly basis.
