[edit]Pro. Katulanda oversees the Diabetes Research Unit,[4] at the University of Colombo, which he played a pivotal role in establishing in 2205.[5]

- Prof. Katulanda is a founding member and currently serves as the chairman.[14]
- CDEM is dedicated to addressing a wide spectrum of health challenges, including diabetes, endocrine disorders, cardiac diseases, renal conditions, and metabolic disorders.[15]
Clinical Training
[edit]- Prof. Vidya Jyothi Prasad Katulanda’s clinical journey began at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Sri Lanka, where he received mentorship from Dr. Udul Hewage during the years 2003 to 2004.
- He furthered his training at the distinguished Oxford Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology and Metabolism (OCDEM) in the United Kingdom from 2004 to 2008.
- Under the guidance of Prof. David Mathhews and Prof. John Waas, he honed his skills in the intricate field of endocrinology.
- Additionally, Prof. Katulanda served as a Registrar in General Medicine at the University Medical Unit of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, closely collaborating with Prof. Rezvi Sheriff.[16]
