Prashanth Prakash is an Indian venture capital investor[1], entrepreneur and philanthropist[2][3][4] based in Bengaluru. He is the partner of Accel in India.[5][6][7] He is the chairman of the Vision Group for Startups for the Government of Karnataka.[8][9][10]

Venture Capital Investor

Since 2004, Prakash has played a key role as a Venture Capitalist in nurturing Karnataka's and India's start-up landscape[11][12][13], and was appointed as the advisor to Karnataka's ex CM Yeduriappa in 2021[14][15].

As a partner at Accel, Prakash has played a role in shaping up some renowned Indian start ups - on the likes of Flipkart, Ola, Freshworks, Bookmyshow, Swiggy & Bounce among many others.[16][17][18][19][20]

Prakash has co-authored a book called 'Unboxing Bengaluru - The city of New Beginnings'[21].[22] It was launched by the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah. [23]

Social Work

Prakash is also the chairman of United Way of Bengaluru[24][25] and UnboxingBLR Foundation (a non-profit organisation dedicated to curating, facilitating, and promoting activities for Bangalore's people and communities.)[26][27][28]

He is the Chairman & Trustee of the NGO Sikshana Foundation and has worked with government schools and anganwadis, with a special focus on education for girls. His work has impacted 50000 schools and 3 Million students in India.[29]

In 2021, Prakash built a 100-crore covid fund along with fellow VCs and established ATC Grants to support Start-ups that were dedicated to building products and services to address challenges of the pandemic.[30][31]

He has also partnered with IISC, Bangalore to set up their Geriatrics Wing. [32][33]

Prashanth was honored as the Social Impact Leader 2021 for his philanthropic work by ASSOCHAM.[34]

Education

Prakash completed his Bachelor's degree from Bangalore University (Computer Science).

Prakash earned a doctorate from the University of Mysore in 2021.[35]
