Game Day Traditions[edit]
Game day for the band starts outside of Class of 1944 hall, where the band will march to the University President's house, while doing their kicks and grunts. Once the band arrives at the presidents house, the band will perform some pop songs, as well as For Maine and The Stein Song. After this, the band marches across the University Mall to the tailgate area, where the band will perform again, this time for the fans tailgating. After this, the band will usually enter the stadium, depending on what time of day the game is.
During the game, the band performs a pre-game and halftime show, as well as several songs in the stands during time outs. If the drum major cuts of the band while they are playing in the stands, the band will often to continue singing their parts in the stands, with the student section sometimes joining in.
After the game, the band does "Follow the Tuba" Each band member will pick a Sousaphone payer to lead them back to Class of 1944 hall. The Sousa players rarely take a direct path back to 1944, usually lending band members down side streets, in circles, or over tables.
Pre-Game Show[edit]
The Band Marches out from the North, South, and East sidelines to from a block int the middle of the field. Once the band arrives in the block, they take 8 counts to face the front sideline, and start playing "The Stein Song Fanfare." Next, the band plays the National Anthem. After this, and while still in the block, the band plays "The theme to Dr. Physer" while the Dance Team spells out "Maine." Instantly after this, the band will take 8 counts to turn towards the south end of Moorse Field, and then march down the field while playing "For Maine." Once this is done, the band will splint in two, creating a tunnel that the football team will run down as the band plays the Stein Song. Once the football team is on the field, the band will take 8 counts to face the visitors side, and march off the field.[2]
Half-Time Shows[edit]
The band will usually perform 2 to 3 shows per season, depending on the length of the football season.
