Ravi Ahuja is an American media executive and the current chairman of Global Television Studios and Corporate Development at Sony Pictures Entertainment.[1][2][3][4][5] In this role, he oversees Sony Pictures Television’s global production businesses, including productions such as The Crown, Cobra Kai, The Boys, The Good Doctor,[6] Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, American Idol, 90 Day Fiancé, Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. Ahuja also oversees Game Show Network and the studio’s media company in India.

Previously, he was president of Walt Disney Television,[6][7][2][8] CFO of Fox Networks Group,[9][10][11] and CFO of Virgin Entertainment Group.[12][13]

From 1997 to 1999, Ahuja worked in consulting at McKinsey & Company.[14][15] From 1999 to 2007, he worked at Virgin Entertainment Group, overseeing business development, before being named Chief Financial Officer in 2004.[14][16][12][13]

In 2007, Ahuja joined Fox Networks Group as Senior Vice President of Business Operations.[17][18][19] Fox Networks Group was the division of 21st Century Fox that included Fox News, Fox Sports, FX, National Geographic, Fox Television Studios and Fox International Channels.[20]

In 2009, he was named Executive Vice President of Business Operations and Development.[14] In 2016, he was named Chief Financial Officer,[21][8] overseeing finance, accounting, and business development for for all Fox Networks Group units — Fox Broadcasting Company; Fox Cable Networks, including FX Networks; Fox Sports Media Group, and National Geographic Partners; and Fox Networks Group Europe, Asia and Latin America.[22][12][13] At Fox, he led several transactions including acquisitions of The Yankees Sports and YES Network, Sports Time Ohio, and National Geographic Partners, as well as the company’s investments into Roku and DraftKings.[22][23]

In 2019, after the merger of 21st Century Fox and the Walt Disney Company, Ahuja was named President of Business Operations and CFO of Walt Disney Television.[17][24][11][18] In his new role, Ahuja oversaw finance, strategic planning, business development, affiliate sales and distribution, technology, music affairs, consumer insights, and labor relations for the television division.[14][25][26]

In March 2021, Ahuja was named Chairman of Global Television Studios and Corporate Development at Sony Pictures Entertainment,[1][5][11] to lead the company’s domestic and international productions, game show franchises, Game Show Network, and the studio’s network business in India, as well as overseeing the company’s corporate development strategy.[27][28][29][6][2]

In 2021, Ahuja led a proposed merger between Sony Pictures Networks India and Zee Entertainment Enterprises that would allow Sony to hold a majority stake in the new entity;[30][11] the merger received conditional approval from the Competition Commission of India in October 2022.[31][32][33][30] He also led Sony Pictures Television’s 2022 acquisition of nonfiction production company Industrial Media for approximately $350 million.[34][35]

Ahuja also serves on the board of Roku, which he joined in February 2013.[36][8][37] He was previously on the board of YES Network[22] and National Geographic Partners.[13][20]

Early life and education[edit]

Ahuja was raised in Cleveland, Ohio. His father was a professor at Case Western Reserve Medical School, and his mother owned a daycare center.[38] He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in finance in 1991, and an MBA in strategic management in 1997.[39][40][41][13]

Ahuja’s wife is singer, musician, and television producer Amrita Sen.[42][43][44] His sister, Amrita Ahuja, is the COO and CFO of Block, Inc.[38]
