Robert Morris (born July 29, 1961) is a Christian religious leader and senior pastor best recognized as the founder and lead pastor of Gateway Church, based in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas.[1]
Early life[edit]
Robert Morris was born in Marshall, Texas, on July 29, 1961. He grew up in a Christian family and began his involvement in ministry at a young age. However, during his teenage years, he struggled with drugs and risky behavior. At the age of 19, he had a transformative experience and became a follower of Jesus Christ.
Education[edit]
Robert attended two Southern Baptist Colleges, although he did not complete any degrees. In 2023, East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) awarded him an honorary Doctorate of Divinity.
Ministry[edit]
Gateway Church was founded by Pastor Robert Morris in 2000, and he has served as its senior pastor since its inception. The church initially held services at the Hilton Hotel in Grapevine, Texas, with around 180 attendees. Over the years, the church expanded and opened its current facility on a 64-acre property, featuring a 4,000-seat sanctuary in 2010.
Gateway Church has expanded beyond Texas, establishing independent plants in different locations, including Gateway Church Scottsdale in Arizona, Table Church in the Austin suburbs (led by Morris’ son Josh), and Gateway Houston (to be led by Morris’ son-in-law Ethan Fisher).
The church is also involved in prison ministries, including the Coffield Unit Ministry, catering to inmates within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
He is also known for his popular radio program, Worship & The Word with Pastor Robert, which airs across America.
Kari Jobe, a singer and fellow pastor, worked as an associate pastor for Gateway Church, contributing to its influence and growth.

Pastor Robert Morris's teachings are broadcasted through television networks like Trinity Broadcasting Network and Daystar Television Network, under the banner of Pastor Robert Morris Ministries. He also serves as the chancellor of The King’s University.
