November 15, 2022, Ryan Horace uploaded a video to Youtube, revealing the production method of disposable vape.[1] This video has a significant impact on the e-cigarette markets in various countries. For instance, in Australia, a new regulation has been introduced to prohibit the importation of disposable vapes starting from January 2024.[2]

14th Jul 2023, The incident was triggered by a report published by British online media LADbible titled "People vow to never buy disposable vapes again after seeing how they’re made"[3]. On the same day, British media joe.co.uk also reported the news.[4]

15th Jul 2023, The British newspaper Daily Star published a report titled "People sworn off vapes after discovering 'disgusting' way they are made".[5] The Daily Star highlighted that consumers were swearing off vapes following revelations about their production

17th Jul 2023,British magazine Tyla published a report titled "People put off buying disposable vapes after discovering how they're made"[6]

21th Jul 2023,After a few days of fermentation, the British mainstream media Daily Mail published two articles in a row. The article exposed a fake video of factory workers testing Elf Bars. In the video, workers handled the product without wearing gloves, raising concerns about hygiene and safety issues.[7][8]

2th Feb 2024, United Kingdom's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced to LADbible that disposable vapes will soon be banned completely in the UK in a bid to crack down on the rise in vaping amongst young people and children.[9]

Additionally, the impact was not limited to Malaysia, as the UK also saw a substantial reaction, with discussions around banning disposable vapes gaining momentum by February 2, 2024.
