The Sack of Cyprus was a military engagement between the Marinids and the Kingdom of Cyprus. Led by the head of the Marinid industry, raïs Ibrahim Tazi who sailed from Alexandria and successfully raided the island with 500 of his crew.[1]

Background
[edit]After the Cypriot raids on the Egyptian coast, the Al-Ashraf Sha'ba assigned the task of raiding the cost of Cyprus to the head of the Marinid industry, Raïs Ibrahim al-Tazi.[3]
Raid
[edit]Ibrahim al-Tazi set sail from the port of Alexandria with 500 of his crew in two seagoing ships heading to the island of Cyprus and the neighboring islands. Eventually, the raid lasted for 23 days and returned with his fleet and spoils back to Alexandria.[4]
Aftermath
[edit]Ibrahim Tazi took spoils from his raid on the island of Cyprus and the neighboring islands, and sent them with a number of his men to Alexandria. Al-Tazi returned from his raid with 35 of Cypriot prisoners.[5][6]
