Salt Wells Valley is an east-west arid valley located in northwestern San Bernardino County, bordered in the south by Spangler Hills, the Argus Range in the north, and some slopes on the east and west. Salt Wells Canyon is located on the eastern end of the valley, utilized as the pass for California Route 178 to Searles Valley.[1] The valley is part of the Mojave Desert.

Salt Wells Valley is rural, containing no cities. NAWS China Lake encompasses the northern end of the valley, bordering the only major transportation corridor in the valley, SR 178.

Geography[edit]

Salt Wells Valley is located adjacent to Indian Wells Valley in the west and Searles Valley in the east. The nearest settlements include Searles Valley, Ridgecrest, Inyokern, and Johannesburg.
