Draft:Selima Optique

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Selima Optique is an eyewear company headquartered in New York and founded by "opticienne-lunetiere" Selima Salaun. Founded in 1993 with a retail location in SoHo, New York, the company has expanded and is best known for its in-house brand, which is sold online, wholesale to other retailers globally, and alongside other brands at the company's various international retail locations.[1] Founded by designer, optometrist, and optician Selima Salaun[2], the company is headquartered in New York City, where its first boutique opened on the corner of SoHo's Broome and Wooster streets in 1993.[3]

Selima Optique's retail stores carry vintage eyewear[4] and other contemporary brands, they also carry an "eclectic" in-house brand.[5] Offering both bespoke frames and signature styles, the brand was originally recognized for creating custom frames for celebrity clients like Madonna, Bono, and Liv Tyler,[6] but also for styles popularized by Ryan Gosling[7] and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.[8] The company has also collaborated with a number of other institutions and people, including projects with the Neue Galerie[9], designer Pamela Love[10], and artist Hiroshi Sugimoto.[11]
