Development[edit]

On January 14, 2024, during the curtain call at the end of the show's final performance on Broadway, Mike Bosner, the show's lead producer, announced "We're all a little sad to say goodbye to this. But there's some good news: We don't have to say goodbye just yet," and that Mandalay Pictures will adapt the musical into a feature film. Robert Horn, who wrote the stage libretto, returned to pen the screenplay, with Jason Michael Berman, Alan Fox and Jordan Moldo producing. Horn, the show's composers Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally and director Jack O’Brien serve as executive producers along with Sandra Berman and David Zelon.[2][3] Berman, Fox and Moldo released a joint statement shortly after, saying "Since the early workshops, we have been huge fans of Shucked. With a hilarious book and incredible music, we weren't surprised by its success on Broadway. This is a movie about community building, told through laughter, music, and of course, corn. We are thrilled to be able to join the original creative team behind the musical and help bring this story to audiences around the world as a motion picture on the big screen."[4]
