Simona Galikova Moore (born Jan 8 1975 in Zilina, Slovak Republic) is a former professional tennis player. She reached a career high ranking in 1996 in both singles and doubles on the WTA Tour from 1995 - 1998. She was inducted into the Flagler College Tennis Center Hall of Fame, and was named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-America honors every season she played.[5] In 1998 Galik earned an unprecedented 30-0 record, undefeated.
Early Life and Tennis Career
[edit]Simona was born and raised in Zilina, Slovakia. By the age of 14, she had already earned her place as one of the top-ranked juniors in her age group in the country. Seeking better opportunities for competitive tennis, her family relocated to the Czech Republic, where Galik Moore went on to win the Indoor National Championship in the 16-and-under doubles category. She turned pro in 1995.
Galik Moore competed on the WTA Tour from 1995-1998. She reached a career high WTA ranking 505 (June 24, 1996) in singles and 209 (Sept 25, 1995 in Doubles.
Collegiate Career
[edit]Galik Moore was ranked No. 1 in the nation in singles play and No. 18 in doubles play in 1998 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. She won the singles competition at the NAIA National Championships as a freshman and boasted an undefeated 30-0 record. In 1998 she received The James O'Hara Sargent Sportsmanship Award bestowed to players who display outstanding sportsmanship and exemplify the spirit of college tennis during the course of the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships. Galik Moore was then selected as the 2001 ITA Senior Player of the Year in the NAIA and was a recipient of ITA’s James O’Hara Sportsmanship Award in 2000.
Off Court or Personal
[edit]Following her successful collegiate and professional tennis career, Galik Moore transitioned into the corporate world with a role at Lowe's. She furthered her education by earning a Master's degree from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Now, as an entrepreneur, she owns PBPRO, a professional pickleball brand.
Galik Moore has also been chosen to feature in the global campaign #SamePlayerNewGame, alongside NBA superstar Tony Parker and Mountain Bike Record. Galik Moore married Todd Moore in 2013. They reside in Davidson, NC. Together, they have a daughter, Daniella Karolina Moore. She is named after Daniella Hantuchova - successful Slovakian tennis player.
