Sophie Mort is a British psychologist and author. She is a mental health consultant at Headspace and the author of A Manual for Being Human and (Un)Stuck.

Early life and education[edit]

Mort was born in Leicester, the United Kingdom. She went to King’s College London to study neuroscience in 2008 and acquired a master of science in 2010. Mort then attended the University of East London, where she received a doctorate in clinical psychology in 2015. She also holds certification in Abhaya Yoga Therapy.

Career[edit]

While studying at the University of East London, Mort worked as a trainee clinical psychologist at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. She joined NHS as a clinical psychologist after receiving her doctorate in 2015. In the NHS, Mort was associated with the Lambeth CAMHS Neuro development Team until 2017 and the Homerton University Hospital RNRU Outreach Team until 2018.

In 2018, after leaving the NHS, Mort launched her online therapy platform, Dr Soph, where she has been serving as an online therapist and blogger since. In the same year, she joined Happy Not Perfect, creating videos and guiding people about mental health through its application until 2023.

Mort signed a contract with Simon & Schuster, in 2020. Through the contract, she published two books about mental health and human psychology, which include A Manual for Being Human in 2021 and (Un)Stuck in 2023. Mort joined Headspace in 2023, and since then, she has been associated with the platform as a mental health consultant. Throughout her career, Mort has appeared on television, seminars, conferences, podcasts, and talk shows, raising mental health awareness.
