- Comment: Reading the sources it's not clear whether this was a serious thing or just a political thing by pro-Trump politicians to highlight the different directions the two states are headed in. Sourcing is very sparce. Stuartyeates (talk) 18:31, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: Editor: you only have one source that discusses this movement. We'd need to see at least three to prove it is notable for our standards. Qcne (talk) 12:20, 2 September 2023 (UTC)
Southern Virginian Secessionism is a grassroots movement from pro-Trump politicians to secede from Virginia into its own state, Southern Virginia[1], But not into into West Virginia[2]( Vexit[3]). However the general populous prefers to not join with West Virgina do to economical reasons. It has been described as a right-wing or alt-right movement. The movement proposes that most if not all of the Virginian Appalachia and Southern Virginia secede along with some adjacent counties.
However some disagree if the county Isle of Wight should be included in the proposed state.
If created the states population would probably be less than 5 million people and be a less dense state than the current Virginia.[4]
One of the proposed flags of this new state would be light blue, red white, and dark red depicting a crown and a spear.
The red symbolizes bloodshed, courage and strength, the blue stands for the ideals of democracy and the people, the white stands for purity and justice, and the dark red stands for corruption and tyranny. The red and white spear stands for the bloody but pure and just fight for freedom, because it is being thrown at the upside-down crown which stands for tyranny defeated.
