Statues in Motion were a post-punk/new wave band from Athens, Greece that formed in 1981, and originally consisted of members Vasilis Paleokostas (Billy Knight), George Dalambiras (Alvin Dean), and Ilias Mitsakis (Elli Kane). Their only LP, the self-titled "Statues In Motion", would be released in 1983, and was produced by V. Tsimidopoulos for Polygram rec, of whom would go on to say that the LP sold less than 100 copies. The group would go silent after the LP's release, and would disband the same year. According to their Facebook page, the group was recently reformed by Billy Knight, the sole remaining member. Just after Parthenogenesis (Παρθενογένεσις) disbanded, Vasilis Paleokostas (Billy Knight) got together with Giorgos Dalambiras (Alvin Dean) and formed Statues in Motion in the summer of 1981. They composed their own tracks collaborating with their close friend Ilias Mitsakis (Ηλίας Μητσάκης) who wrote lyrics in English. Recordings for an album were completed by mid-1982, but financial arguments, kept the LP from being released.
The band played live only once, on 12 June 1983. A few months after the concert, Paleokostas leaves Greece and the group breaks up. Their sole album was released in December 1983. The band only released one album on Christmas Day 1983.[3] On 27 April 2013 Statues in Motion re-released the first album for the 30th anniversary edition.[4]
