Stella Meletopoulou is a female Greek-born artist based in Athens, Greece.

Biography

Meletopoulou [1] was born in 1964 in Athens, Greece. Her interest in the arts and architectue began from an early age as she is the daughter of renowned Greek architect Ilias Meletopoulos.

Meletopoulou mainly practices with abstract painting[2] and, since 2016, has incorporated three-dimensional wall-mounted works in her practice, using threads and symbolic elements, developing and evolving at the same time a personal semiological expression. She has also developed a keen interest in site-specific works and installations responding to the unique and diverse elements and characteristics of unique spaces [3].

She studied drawing and illustration at ESAG Penninghen and Academie Charpentier in Paris between 1983 and 1987. After graduating, she worked as an illustrator in Athens.

Fifteen years later in 2002, she was submitted at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) to study painting. Her tutors in painting included professors Zacharias Arvanitis and Angelos Antonopoulos as well as professor Nikos Tranos in sculpture and Pavlos Samios in iconography. She graduated from ASFA in 2008 with an Honours degree.

She was a scholarship nominee in 2004 and 2006.
