Casting[edit]

Sharma makes her return to television after four years.

Nia Sharma was cast to play the witch, Nishigandha. It marks her return to fiction after four years.[3][4] On her role as witch, Sharma stated,

"Playing this Chudail was challenging for me, and I felt like a rookie. I had to rely heavily on the director's guidance, and it took me some time to fully immerse myself into Nishigandha's character.[5]"

Bengali actress, Debchandrima Singha Roy was cast as Deeya, in her Hindi television debut.[6] Zayn Ibad Khan was cast as Moksh, opposite Sharma and Roy.[7] Aradhana Sharma was cast to play Rachna, Moksh's sister.[8] In June 2024, Apara Mehta was cast to play a yogini, Deeya's helper.[9]

Filming[edit]

The series is based in Rajasthan, and has been shot at various locations in Rajasthan including Bikaner. The series is also shot at the Film City, Mumbai.[10]

Reception[edit]

Prachi Arya of India Today stated, "Nia, who has aced her role as ‘Naagin’ in the supernatural series before, looks familiar in the new show as she uses her powers to sacrifice men for immortality. The poor VFX and cringe dialogues make one lose interest in the beginning. Debchandrima looks fresh on screen. The concept is similar to Indian television shows that have experimented with the genre before."[11]
