Surendra Kumar Sia(odia:ସୁରେନ୍ଦ୍ର କୁମାର ସିଆ) is an eminent Indian psychology professor currently serving as a professor in the University of Delhi(DU).

Early Life:

Born in the village of Jakhapura in the Jajpur district of Odisha, one could never imagine what he is in the present. Poverty was a neighbour to him, and his family of 2 brothers and an sister. Being the youngest out of all, he was a highly determined,introverted and prodigious child.

Education:

His initial years of childhood was where he had studied in the village odia-medium school. He then had gotten a full scholarship to study in the prestigious Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack, which was a very big acheivement for a kid from a village. He honed his skills in the art of essay writing, which brought him and his school multiple awards.

Worked as Project Associate from November, 1997 to October, 1998 in the project entitled “ Fostering Early Development in Disadvantaged Children” at Center for Advanced Study in Psychology, Utkal University and funded by Bernard Van Leer Foundation, Netherland

Worked as research Associate from July, 2002 to June, 2003 in a project of Defense Research & Development Organisation titled “ Developing Training Programme for Enhancing Military Leadership Effectiveness and Understanding Efficient Conflict Resolution Strategy in LIC Environment”

Worked as Guest Lecturer in Applied Psychology at Sri Aurobindo College (Evening), University of Delhi form August 2003 to February 2004.

Worked as Lecturer in School of Arts & Management Sciences (Delhi Campus) of Rai University  from March 2004 to March, 2005.

Worked as Lecturer in Psychology, Punjabi University, Patiala from March 2005 to July, 2009.

Worked at Pondicherry University as Reader on July, 20th 2009 and later redesignated as Associate Professor on 30th July, 2012. Professor since 30th July, 2015 to 19th March, 2024.

Currently working as a Professor in the University of Delhi
