Taron Harutyuni Andreasyan (arm. Տարոն Հարությունի Անդրեասյան, December 23, 1993 – November 9, 2020) was an Armenian freedom fighter, participant of the Second Nagorno-Karabakh war.[1][2]
Biography
He was born on December 23, 1993, in the village of Mkhchyan, Ararat province. His father, Harutyun, is a participant of First Nagorno-Karabakh War, and his mother, Tamara. Taron has a brother who is freestyle wrestler Arman Andreasyan. On February 17, 2024, he became the adult European champion and dedicated his victory to his fallen brother.[3]
Second-Karabakh War
After hearing the news of the war, Taron Andreasyan, who is in the Russian city of Krasnodar, returns to Armenia and voluntarily enlists and participates in the 44-day Artsakh war. He left for combat operations on October 21.[2] One of the combat comrades mentions that Taron was the commander of their company and when they gave the order to retreat from Sanasar, he did not retreat and went forward. His fellow villager states that on the day of his death, Taron Andreasyan called his father and said that he was under siege, but he would not surrender, he would blow himself up with a grenade.[1]
Since September 6, 2022, a video has been circulating on the Internet,[4][5][6] in which the young man who appeared was surrounded and instead of surrendering, he was the first attacker and died during the battle.[2] Later, it becomes clear that the volunteer appearing in the video and calling Azerbaijanis "cowards" is Taron Andreasyan, according to the representative of the interests of Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, lawyer Siranush Sahakyan.[1]
