subst:submit Tayo Olafioye (1948-2012) was a Nigerian academic and writer. He wrote broadly across genres and forms, including poetry, the novel, autobiography, and essays. The themes of his writings are also as broad as the forms and genres he worked in: illness and healing, African migrants' experiences, masculinity and vulnerability, and the political crises of Nigeria and Africa. His notable literary works include A Stroke of Hope (2000), Grandma's Sun (2000), The Parliament of Idiots (2002), and Tomorrow Left Us Yesterday (2004), which won the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA)/Spectrum Prize for prose. Olafioye's critical writings include Politics in African Poetry (1984), Critic as Terrorist (1989), and The Poetry of Tanure Ojaide (2000).
