From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tha Ruffneckz were a Rap Group created by Tha Chief back in 1994 & gathered Momentum by opening up for up and coming R&B group CDB at Club Dejavu in Sydney 1995. Due to the success of the show Tha Ruffneckz did a lot of shows that year with DJ Vame and with Raptanite Magazine which was Newcastle's First Hip Hop Jam. Tha Ruffneckz also featured on Dope runner records compilation cassette Australiaz Most Wanted Psychosis produced by DJ Vame featuring Capital Punishment, 046 and many more West Side Crews. Tha Ruffneckz also visited 2ser FM Mothership connection with Miguel de Souza which was a Hip Hop show where local Artists would freestyle. Growing up at Eastlakes late 80's & watching Sound Unlimited Posse coming up Tha Chief witnessed break dancing & graffiti. Having a Father who was a Musician inspired Tha Chief to play guitar and get into music production. A good Friend Vince Traverza who Tagged EVEN in the Eastern Suburbs introduced Tha Chief to The Sleeping Monk and DJ Blaze and showed them some Demos Tha Chief made. DJ Blaze was impressed and The Sleeping Monk introduce Tha Chief to the Hip Hop scene where there was Freestyling and Defwish Cast ruled the scene. The Sleeping Monk created a Group with Tha Chief called SABOTAGE. Tha Chief was introduced to DJ Vame at St Mary's where he had a Studio and made beats there. After a fall out with The Monk Tha Chief created a group called Tha Ruffneckz. Tha Ruffneckz consisted of Tha Chief, his Brother Gabz aka Slomode and Syntz. Tha Ruffneckz had beef with many rap crews since they started dissing Rappers on 2ser FM. It was supposed to motivate the scene since Tha Ruffneckz were around at the time when the East coast West coast rap wars were happening in America. Tha Ruffneckz were heavily influenced by American rap music from Cypress Hill to Deathrow Records and never truly fitted with Aussie Hip Hop. Tha Ruffneckz had many altercations during live Shows in Sydney including one at The Booty Bar Fila Competition which they were leading and another altercation at The Tunnel with Defwish Cast. After burning out and problems between Tha Chief & his Brother the group went into hiatus. They had four songs but the most popular was the notorious 'it'z on' where they diss The Sleeping Monk. Tha Chief continued to make Rap music & completed his Album 'Life goes on'. Life goes on is a biographical album all about his troublesome life growing in South Sydney's public housing.
