The Accountant film series consists of American action-thriller films, based on and centering around an original story written by Bill Dubuque. The plot centers around Christian "Chris" Wolff also known as "The Accountant", who despite being autistic has been trained in various self-defense tactics and has a successful career as an accountant for a variety of dangerous criminals.

The Accountant 2 (TBA)[edit]

In June 2017, it was announced that a sequel was in development. Gavin O'Connor, Bill Dubuque, and Ben Affleck were in early negotiations to return to their roles as director, writer, and star, respectively. Jon Bernthal was also expected to appear in the movie.[1] By February 2020, Affleck confirmed that developments were ongoing, with the studio having considered retroactively turning a work-script that they are working on into The Accountant 2. The actor additionally expressed interest in the potential for a television series.[2]

In September 2021, Gavin O'Connor announced that the sequel had officially been green-lit, while a third film is also being written. The story of sequel will incorporate Jon Bernthal's character will more greatly factor into the plot.[3][4] By January 2024, the film had officially entered pre-production with principal photography scheduled to commence in March of the same year.[5][6] By February, it was announced that the project will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios.[7] In March 2024, J. K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson were announced to reprise their roles from the first film.[8]

The Accountant 3 (TBA)[edit]

In September 2021, O'Connor revealed that The Account will be made into a trilogy of movies. Intended to enter production consecutively with the second installment, filmmaker stated that the third movie will be a buddy film, calling it "Rain Man on steroids".[3][4]
