The Power Law: Venture Capital and the Making of the New Future (2022) is a financial book by Sebastian Mallaby published by Penguin Press.[1] It is a history of venture capital since the mid-20th century century primarily in the United States, with some sections covering China, India, Israel and Europe, among other regions. The book's title refers to the power law, the statistical distribution describing returns to venture capital firms. It was one of the six books shortlisted for the 2022 Financial Times Business Book of the Year Award[2] and was named one of the best books of 2022 by The Economist.[3] The Financial Times praised it for being "sweeping and authoritative".[4]
