She was born in Heraklion in 1914 and despite her father's objections she insisted on becoming an actress, even though she had started studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she met and married her first husband, the distinguished painter Nikos Nikolaou. She studied acting at the National Theatre of Greece Drama School and joined its troupe, in which she remained until 1953. Her first appearance on the stage was in 1935. Then performed roles of the classical and contemporary repertoire. After her departure from the National Theatre, together with her second husband, also the great actor Nikos Chatziskos, they founded the "Kava" theater, as well as other pioneering stages for their time. Her only appearance on television is recorded in the investigative series of Alekos Sakellarios "Mono gia sas" (1974). A special and beloved acting coach among her hundreds of students, she taught the classic works, but also dramatized texts by Papadiamantis, Roidis and Makrigiannis, introducing new teaching methods.[1][2]

Nikiforaki died of natural causes on 19 October 2019, at the age of 105. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living Greek actress.[3][4][5]
