Toju Olowofoyeku is a fashion designer of Nigerian descent into Haute Couture fashion[2]. She has partnered with many public figures on the African Continent including South African First Lady Bongi Ngema-Zuma[3]. A graduate of Istituto Marangoni Milan, Italy with a diploma in Fashion Design, Toluwaloju also holds a Bachelors of Law (LLB) degree from the University of Reading, England and a Masters in Intellectual Property Law (LLM) from the University of Manchester,[4]. Olowofoyeku branched into Bridal wear with her Jemima Bridals by TF in 2016[5] and She was responsible for the Bridal Train of Nigerian Film Director Kemi Adetiba's Engagement and Civil Wedding.[6] .

Early life[edit]

Toluwaloju Olowofoyeku was born on July 13, 1989 in Lagos, Nigeria [7]. She is the daughter of Ayotunde Olowofoyeku, an architect and Funmilola (née Osunsade), [8] who is a niece to Globacom Chairman Mike Adenuga[9].

After securing a Masters Degree in Law from The University of Manchester Olowofoyeku enrolled at Istituto Marangoni, in Milan where she honed her lifelong passion for fashion design[10].

Fashion career[edit]

Early career[edit]

Toju Foyeh launched her first collection in Lagos, Nigeria at the Arise Fashion Week in December 2010[11]. She has graced magazine covers such as; Thisday Style[12], and has dressed A-list West African celebrities and VIP's including the First Lady of South Africa[13]. In November 2020, Foyeh Launched the Toju Foyeh Institute, a fashion design School.[14]


Public image and legacy[edit]

Toju Olowofoyeku has appeared on a number of magazine covers such as Exquisite Magazine[15] and The Entrepreneur Africa[16].

Olowofoyeku's fashion style is known to promote a mature and advanced yet youthfully charged image. She is known for a grown up look, making non-provocative statements, and securing a venerable demographic[17]. Her style can be said to incorporate the Yoruba tradition of itutu

In popular culture[edit]

Adesua Etomi remains a regular patron of Toju Foyeh and is typically seen donning the brand at events[18]

In September 2013, Afro artist Tiwa Savage, who among others such as Adesua Etomi[19], Betty Irabor, Agbani Darego and Osas Ajibade[20] are clients of Toju Foyeh, released the song "Ileke" as a single from her album Once upon a time where Toju Foyeh was referenced[21].
