Toms River Intermediate North (nicknamed the Dolphins) is a public middle school in the Toms River Regional Schools District and is located in Toms River, New Jersey. The theme of this middle school is dolphins, hence their nickname and their logo which is a dolphin.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Toms River Intermediate North (known before 2005 as Toms River Intermediate West) was founded in 1975 on 150 Intermediate N Way, Toms River, Ocean County, New Jersey under Toms River Regional Schools and is the second oldest school that isn't a high school. In 1992 the school had celebrations for the 225th anniversary of Toms River (known then as Dover Township). In 2005 with the addition of Toms River Intermediate South there was redistricting. This is most likely the reason why Toms River Intermediate North renamed themselves from Toms River Intermediate West. In May of 2023 Kyle Banner, a teacher at Toms River Intermediate North, was arrested for sending pornographic images to a student. This incident goes as far back as October 2022 when he posted pornographic pictures of himself on Snapchat. He was charged with official misconduct and three charges of endangering the welfare of a child.[3][4][5]

There are many sports the Dolphins play. There is cross-country, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track and field baseball (A and B) and softball (A and B).[6]
