Draft:Torch (chess)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Torch is a Chess engine developed by the creators of other Chess engines.[1]

Torch was first available on October 10, 2023,[2] about 8 days prior to official launch. However, it is only available in Chess.com’s analysis board on October 18, 2023.[3]

On March 20, 2024, Torch 2 was released for testing, [4] before it was released on Chess.com’s analysis board in 2024.

But, on June 18, 2024, Andrew Grant (one of the Torch developers) announced that Torch’s development would be closed from now on. Development would be closed since, even though Andrew was the only full-time employee developing Torch, a lot of their time wasn’t spent on developing Torch, among other reasons such as the developers being under-budget.[5]
