Tyler Klimek (born 1993) is an American video game developer and lighting artist. He serves as a Senior Lighting Artist at Turtle Rock Studios, where he is directly shaping the lighting and look development of an unannounced AAA title from the studio. He was also a lighting artist on the Skate (series) and the Halo (franchise).
Early life and education
[edit]Tyler Klimek was born in 1993 in Wausau, Wisconsin, to David and Jackie Klimek.
Klimek attended University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin, where he majored in a Bachelor in Game Design & Development. He graduated in 2018. He then attended the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, where he got a master's degree in Visual Effects.
Career
[edit]343 Industries eventually recruited Klimek in 2020 as a lighting artist.[1][2][3][4][5]
His first game development credit for 343 Industries was as a lighting artist on Halo Infinite[6]
In January 2023, Klimek was part of wide spread microsoft layoffs that affected 343 Industries, and shortly joined up with Deviation Games as a Senior Lighting Artist.[7]
In March 2024, Deviation Games shut down before they were able to ship their first game. [8] Klimek then joined Electronic Arts and worked on the Skate (series) for the remainder of 2024, before joining Turtle Rock Studios as a Senior Lighting Artist.
