UnderDeveloped is a 2023 American Television series written, executive produced and directed by Brian Metcalf and starring Thomas Nicholas, Brian Metcalf, Kelly Arjen, Samm Levine, Shelley Regner, Lulu Jovovich with Mark Pellegrino, David Henrie, David Koechner and Tom Arnold. The show was first announced on December 13, 2022 in Variety. According to Variety, "the show focuses on a group of failed and inexperienced producers working together at a production company."[1]
The show premiered on Tubi on September 08, 2023.[2]
Controversy[edit]
While promoting the show at San Diego Comic Con in 2023, it was revealed that Tom Arnold said Steven Seagal thinks someone is paying him to badmouth the action star.[3]
Critical reception[edit]
Rotten Tomatoes TV and Film critic Martin Carr called the show "Underdeveloped Makes a Masterful Mockery of Movie Making" giving it 4 out of 5 stars.[4] Entertainment Weekly's Jillian Sederholm said of the show, "Although the show is parody, Underdeveloped also offers a lens for the audience to learn more about the entertainment industry," when they reviewed the show at San Diego Comic Con. [5] Film Threat's Alan Ng gave the show 6 out of 10 stars stating, “The characters are a bit too silly to be taken seriously but funny enough to root for our naive hero Stan thrown into the chaotic cesspool of Hollywood. Each scene ends with a punchline, so we’re here for the laughs.”[6] Watchworthy said about the show “With its witty writing, stellar cast, and relatable themes of partnership and perseverance, this mockumentary is a must-watch for anyone seeking a good laugh.”[7] Rotten Tomatoes TV and Film critic Danielle Solzy gave the show 3.5 out of 5 stars stating, “If you’re a fan of mockumentaries, it’s worth it to check out UnderDeveloped.”[8]
