Universal Processing LLC, also known as uP, is a financial technology company specializing in payment processing solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. As a full-service provider, the company offers a range of services, including point-of-sale (POS) retail and restaurant software solutions. Founded in 2003, the company is headquartered in New York City and serves clients across the United States.[1] Universal Processing supports more than 31,000 merchant partners nationwide and processes over $2.8 billion annually.[2][3]

Universal Processing was founded by Saint Hung in 2003.[1]
Universal Processing became a registered ISO of Wells Fargo Bank in 2012.[4][5]
In 2020, Universal Processing launched uServe POS, a point-of-sale solution.[6]
Since December 2021, Universal Processing has collaborated with advocates such as the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce.[2]
In 2024, Universal Processing rebranded to uP. Universal Processing now has six offices nationwide in Manhattan, NY; Flushing, NY; Arcadia, CA; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; and Plano, TX.[2]

In 2019, Universal Processing was No. 500 on its annual Inc. 5000 list.[10] For the following two years, Universal Processing continuously made Inc. Magazine’s prestigious ranking of America’s 5,000 fastest-growing private businesses, the Inc. 5000.[11][12]
In 2020, Universal Processing has been named by the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC) as one of the winners of this year's "Fast 100 Asian American Business Awards."[13][1]
In 2021, The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced Universal Processing as a tier 1 Community Navigator in partnership with the USPAACC.[2]
In 2021, Universal Processing was featured in Forbes, which included an interview with CEO Saint Hung discussing the company’s initiatives to assist merchants during the pandemic. Universal Processing dedicated over $1 million, establishing a help desk for businesses and distributing more than 16,000 masks to medical facilities, police, and businesses.[14]
In 2024, Universal Processing won the "Top Workplace Award."[15]
