The University of Telafer (in Arabic جامعة تلعفر) is an Iraqi public university is located in Telafer, Ninevah Province (36°23'34"N 42°27'02"E) and was established in 2014[1]. During the same year, all university buildings were destroyed by ISIS when they occupied the province[2][3]. The university currently occupies

three temporary buildings, while a completely new campus is under construction. The new campus is expected to be completed within one year[1].

The University currently consists of three colleges[4]:

1- The College of Nursing.

2- The College of Basic Education. The college includes two departments: The Department of Mathematics and the Department of Arabic Language.

3- The College of Agriculture, includes two departments: the Department of Animal Production, and the Department of Field Crops.

The above-mentioned colleges offer bachelor's degrees to their students with a study duration of four years. The University has a scholarship program for international students within "Study in Iraq" scheme[5]. In addition, the University has a Continuous Education Center and a Computer Center[6][7][8].

Within the current academic year 2023/2024[1]

  • The number of students is (2124) in total,
    • 1150 students are in the College of Nursing
    • 957 students are in the College of Basic Education.
    • 17 students are in the College of Agriculture.
  • The number of academic staff is 99. Among them are 3 Professors, 29 Lecturers, and 67 Assistant lecturers.
  • The number of administrative staff is 187.
