VASS is a digital solutions company headquartered in Madrid, Spain. Established in 1999, it has a presence in 26 countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.[1] Since 2020, VASS is majority owned by the US-based One Equity Partners (ONE).  The founder and Chairman of the company is Francisco Javier Latasa.[2]

The company activity covers areas such as customer experience, cloud computing, data and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software engineering and banking, among others.[3]

VASS company was founded in 1999 by Franciso Javier Latasa, a 27-year-old Spanish economist. After working for IBM and Andersen Consulting, he founded VASS in his family home in Alcobendas with an initial capital of 500,000 pesetas (3,000 euros).[4] The company began by installing SAP systems that allowed companies to manage their human resources, financial accounting, production and logistics. The first invoice VASS issued was to Daimler Chrysler, its first client. In 2006 it opened an office in Barcelona and in 2007 in London.  From 2010 it expanded internationally to the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru adapting to the local market and culture of each country.[4] In 2019, it opened the Amsterdam office for business in the Netherlands.[5]

At the end of 2020, the American company One Equity Partners (OEP) took a majority stake in the company, and from then on an expansion began, acquiring technology companies and creating new ones.[6]

VASS ecosystem[edit]

The group consists of several companies specialising in different digital sectors. Serbatic, an ICT services company, was created in 2006.[7] In 2008, NATEEVO, a digital marketing company (previously Montejava and VASS Digital).[8][9] In 2011, new business lines were created: business mobility and global digital strategy, and ISO 20000 and ISO IEC 27001 certifications were obtained.[5]

In 2016 the company moved to Parque Empresarial La Moraleja (Alcobendas, Madrid).[10] In 2018 VASS created vdSHOP, a fullcommerce company.[11]

At the end of 2020, the American private equity firm One Equity Partners (OEP), specialised in mid-market, made a majority investment in the Spanish company.[12]

In 2021, the Group embarked on a period of international acquisitions: CRI Group, specialised in cybersecurity, based in Luxembourg,[13] Ecenta AG (German SAP technology and customer strategy company),[14] and Comunitek (systems and products for wholesale banking and capital markets),[15] as well as the creation of T4S Advanced Solutions (SAP consultancy).[13] In 2022, VASS Group acquires One Inside (Swiss Adobe technology company),[16] Movetia (Spanish company providing digital services to the automotive and financial sectors),[17] Hexagon Data (Mexican digital marketing automation company),[18] Zington (Swedish digital technology consultancy),[19] and Intelygenz (Spanish artificial intelligence company).[20] In 2023, VASS acquires Copilot (US software consultancy),[21] PSKinetic (UK AI integration company for the financial sector),[1] and Pia Relations (Swedish CRM and cloud services consultancy).[22]

Name of VASS[edit]

VASS means 'Value Added Services and Solutions'.[8] The abbreviation is taken from the name of the founder's grandfather, the Cádiz-born sculptor Juan Luis Vassallo, and the company logo is the first part of the artist's signature.[23] In 2020, the brand image was redesigned with the addition of the slogan 'Complex Made Simple'.

Evolution of employment[edit]

The company had 100 employees in 2002, grew to 500 in 2011, 1,000 in 2014, 2,186 in 2020,[5]  3,410 in 2022,[24] and 4.600 professionals in 2023.[1]The company was part of the ranking of the 100 best companies to work for in Spain in 2005,[5]  and has continued to do so until 2023.[24]
