Vitale "Lino" Vidal (September 27, 1911 – January 29, 2002) was an Italian chemist, entrepreneur, and industrial leader. He played a significant role in the cosmetics and packaging industry. Vidal is notably recognized for inventing the Pino Silvestre bubble bath and for managing the Vidal company, established in Porto Marghera in the early 20th century. The Vidal brand is well-known in Italy, with Pino Silvestre considered a prominent shower gel in the country.

Vitale Vidal, commonly known as Lino, was born in 1912 and was one of nine children in a large family. His father, Angelo Vidal, was the founder of the Vidal company. From an early age, Lino showed a strong interest in chemistry, which significantly shaped his career.

Industrial Career

Following the death of their father Angelo, Lino Vidal, along with his brothers Renzo and Mario, assumed control of the family business. Under their leadership, Vidal became a prominent brand in the cosmetics, perfumery, and detergents sectors. Lino Vidal is credited with inventing the Pino Silvestre bubble bath, which significantly influenced the field of cosmetic packaging. He developed a unique fragrance and distinctive packaging, designed in the shape of a pine tree with a pinecone-shaped cap. The initial containers were produced in glass by the renowned Venini factory. Pino Silvestre achieved notable commercial success and became a significant phenomenon in Italian marketing.

Another notable contribution by Lino Vidal to the cosmetics industry was the creation of the "white horse" advertisement, which involved bringing a white horse to Piazza San Marco in Venice. Personal Life

Lino Vidal was known to be a reserved and studious man with a deep passion for chemistry. His daughter Gemma describes him as "a great discoverer of essences." Lino had two children, Gemma and Francesco. Gemma married entrepreneur Vittorio Radice.

Death
