William Christopher Reichelt (rye-k-ELT; born June 1986) is a Massachusetts politician and attorney who is currently serving as the 4th Mayor of West Springfield, Massachusetts since January 4, 2016. He is the youngest person to have assumed the office at age 29 years, 6 months.

Early Life[edit]

Reichelt was born in West Springfield, Massachusetts in June of 1986 to William and Joyce Reichelt. He grew up in the Amostown section of West Springfield and atteneded John R. Fausey Elementary School (1992-1997), West Springfield Junior High School (1997-2000), and West Springfield High School (2000-2004). He also attended Holyoke Community College (2005-2007), Westfield State University (2007-2009), Western New England College (2010-2014).

Political Life[edit]

He was appointed to become the Town Attorney of West Springfield, Massachusetts by then-Mayor Edward Sullivan in June of 2014. In 2015, Sullivan announced he would not be running for a second term as Mayor and Reichelt filed to run as an Independent candidate. On November 2, 2015 he faced Republican Massachusetts Represenative Michael Flynn. He won 3,517 votes to Flynn's 2,571, in a political upset. He was sworn in as the 4th Mayor of West Springfield on January 4, 2016, youngest person to ever hold that position. He resigned from his position as Town attorney the previous day. Reichelt ran for a second-term and third-term unopposed in 2017 and 2021.
