She debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group Illit in 2024, a result of finishing first[1] in JTBC and Hybe Corporation's girl group reality survival television show R U Next? (2023–24).

Early life[edit]

Lee Won-hee was born on June 26, 2007 in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.

Career[edit]

2023–present: R U Next?, Debut with Illit[edit]

In 2023, Wonhee participated as a contestant in the South Korean girl group reality survival show R U Next?, a girl group reality competition show to determine the members of Belift Lab's first girl group.[2] Ranking in first of the six successful participants,[1][3] she went on to join the newly formed girl group Illit.

On February 13, 2024, Belift Lab officially confirmed that Illit will be debuting in March of the year.[4] Weeks later, the label revealed the name of Illit's extended play (EP) debut, Super Real Me.[5] The extended play was released on March 25, 2024, alongside the release of the music video for its lead single, "Magnetic".[6][7] "Magnetic" debuted at 91 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Illit the fastest K-pop female act to enter the chart and the first one to do so with a debut single.[8][9] Super Real Me managed to sell over 380,000 physical albums worldwide upon its first week of release,[10] and debuted at number 93 on the Billboard Global 200,[11] charting for six weeks. By late April, the album had surpassed 500,000 sales.[12]

Endorsements[edit]

Three weeks after Illit's debut, Wonhee was confirmed as a new model for the Japanese sports drink Pocari Sweat in May 2024.[13]
