The X10 is a bus route between Stirling Bus Station and Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station serving the various villages and rural areas of the Carse of Forth and the outskirts of Glasgow. It is operated by McGill's Scotland East (formerly First Scotland East) and is subsidised by Stirling Council and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport..[1].
History[edit]
Various routes were combined to create the X10. Previously the B12 ran between Stirling and Balfron, and the B10 ran from Balfron to Glasgow (C12 and C10, were simply the evening services of the same route)[2]. These two routes were combined into the X10, allowing for a continuous journey from Stirling to Glasgow, this new service removed the village of Cambusbarron from the route, instead heading straight into the city centre of Stirling[3]. A new service, C11, would serve Cambusbarron to the city centre.
Late night services were called X10T when under First Bus, however McGill's discontinued this with all services simply being called X10.
In September 2022 First Midland East was sold to McGill's taking over operation of the entire network[4].
After McGill's took over operations, the route is most frequently run by ex-London double decker Alexander Dennis Enviro400 and Mercedes-Benz Euro 6 Citaro buses[5] In November 2023 the X10 came into controversy as in a Stirling Council budget proposal, cuts to the route were suggested. These cuts included, removing Sunday, early morning, and evening services[6][7][8]
