Early Life[edit]

Teal's journey began with a somewhat unconventional high school experience, where he graduated with barely passing grades due to his adventurous nature. His commitment to service, however, became evident as he joined the United States Army, eventually becoming a non-commissioned officer in the 101st Airborne Division.

Military Career and Transition to Civilian Life[edit]

Teal's military experience, particularly as a system administrator for the Trojan intelligence network, shaped his path toward a successful civilian career. Upon leaving the Army in 2009, he joined CACI, initially as a network administrator at the Trojan Network Control Center in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. Teal's dedication and skills led him to his current role as CACI’s Air Force-Distributed Common Ground System (AF-DCGS) Management Center (DMC) Network Lead.

In his role, Teal oversees the $65 billion AF-DCGS, the second-largest Command and Control system in the U.S. Air Force, supporting over 6,000 warfighters at 27 sites. His work ensures the flow of essential intelligence data, providing near-real-time information crucial for troops' situational awareness and safety.

Community Involvement[edit]

Beyond his professional commitments, Xavier Teal actively engages in community service. He coaches an age five and under soccer league, captains a social kickball team comprised of CACI and DMC personnel, and volunteers with #Lunchbag, an organization in Hampton Roads that packs and distributes over 750 lunches monthly.

Recognition and Awards[edit]

Teal's impact has not gone unnoticed, as he was recognized as a 2024 Black Engineer of the Year awardee in the Outstanding Achievement category. Colleagues describe him as a motivated problem solver and a pillar of his community.
