Yeh Shuhua (Chinese: 葉淑華; Korean예슈화; born 6 January 2000), Or just known as her stage name Shuhua, is a Taiwanese singer and dancer living in South Korea. She is the bottom vocalist of the Korean girl group (G)I-dle.

Early Life

Ye Shuhua was born on January 6, 2000, in Yangmei District, Taoyuan, Taiwan. (formerly Yangmei Town, Taoyuan County). Her father is Hakka, and her mother is Atayal.

At a young age, Shuhua aspired to become an artist. Whenever she saw actors on television, she would imagine herself becoming a celebrity one day and would often share this dream with her family. At that time, her family thought she was just a child and didn't pay much attention to her thoughts.

When filling out her high school preferences, Shuhua secretly chose to apply to Hwa Kang Arts School without her family's knowledge. Eventually, she successfully entered the drama department and embarked on the path to becoming an artist. She practiced alone every day, imagining herself performing in different scenarios, and also participated in school-organized musicals, laying the foundation for her acting skills and stage presence.

Since K-pop is a very popular music genre in Taiwan, Shuhua became a fan of the senior artist Hyuna after seeing her perform during junior high. In high school, she became more familiar with K-pop through interactions with friends. She enjoyed dancing and listening to music with her friends, which further fueled her interest in Korean pop culture and sparked the idea of becoming an idol.

One day, her friend invited her to accompany them to a Cube audition out of curiosity. The staff mistook Shuhua for a participant and asked her to perform on the spot. Upon learning that she had passed the audition, 16-year-old Shuhua eventually decided to go to Korea to start her trainee life.

Life in South Korea was not easy at first. In addition to the language barrier, she had to face a completely different environment alone, and the monthly dance and vocal assessments added immense pressure for Shuhua, who lacked relevant skills. However, she did not give up and practiced alone late into the night every day, eventually earning the first place in the trainee freestyle dance competition.

With the support and encouragement of her fellow members, Shuhua worked hard to improve her skills. Although she still lacked confidence, she did not miss any opportunity for growth and often stayed in the practice room until the early hours of the morning. Now, she is very grateful that she did not give up in the face of many difficulties.
