Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because Balen Shah is a candidate currently leading the mayoral race of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. And he has been a source of extensive media coverage in Nepal lately, with over 21,600 search results in Google News–listed English news sources. Even on the off chance that he fails to win the election, the effect that his candidancy has had on Nepali politics would still warrant a Wikipedia page. Inimesh, I'm not sure if you've seen Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Balen Shah? Editors decided just a few days ago that this person is not notable by our standards, but that development of a page on him could continue in draft space. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:04, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Justlettersandnumbers: I've seen Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Balen Shah. The discussion dates back to May 6, cataloguing only English-language sources, but most importantly, a lot has since then. Nepal hosted local-level polls on May 13, and vote counting is currently sluggishly underway. With his vote count surging, Shah has gone from being a mayoral candidate largely ignored by the mainstream media to someone projected to win the mayoral race by a popular media outlet. Meanwhile, his coverage has grown significantly especially among Nepali-language reliable sources. The article I created was not meant to be a comprehensive biography, but rather a stub-class article that would hopefully attract other editors and grow into a more extensive article. Hi @Justlettersandnumbers:, Recently, you had moved the article of Balen Shah's into draft i.e Draft:Balen Shah 3 but there is already drafted article regarding this subject. So, I request you to delete this two drafted article i.e Draft: Balen Shah which draftified by me and Draft:Balen Shah 3 but I request you to not to delete this draft beacuse it makes other editors work easy to improve. I would not delete them for that reason – a bit of extra stuff lying around in draft space doesn't really do any great harm; another admin might see it as reasonable, I don't know. Why not try redirecting them first, and if that doesn't stick, consider either speedy or WP:MfD? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:11, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
