Suggestions
[edit]Please add any comments, suggestions, corrections, or bug reports about this draft template below. Still tbd, is a standard template /doc page; it's coming.

Size adjustment
[edit]Is there some way I could get this to fit alongside a userbox box? I've tried using the width= parameter but no matter what I set the number to it always seems to default to a specific size. Am I doing something wrong? Also, how can I make it align to the left side of the page? Thanks in advance. widgethocker (talk) 21:32, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Widgethocker:, thanks for your question. All of that should be possible. I haven't tested everything in the template yet, as it's still in Draft and I'm working on other stuff. but in theory all the parameters to do what you want are already there. Have you looked at the doc page of the template, which lists some parameters like
|left=
and|width=
and others? Can you either link me to a page where it's not working the way you want it, or include an example below (preferably embedded between {{collapse top}} ... {{collapse bottom}} if possible) so I can see what's going on? - Also, future flash: I'm working on an enhancement which will deliver the correct deletion log file nomination name, even if the article has been nominated for deletion before; it's a little tricky, and might take me some time. That's for the version when you supply the article name as a parameter. Mathglot (talk) 03:43, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Mathglot: It turns out I was doing it wrong; the number needed to be formatted as a percent. However, the
|left=
parameter isn't what I'm looking for. That just aligns the text within the template to its left side (see User:Widgethocker/sandbox), but I'm looking to align the template itself to the left side so it fits neatly alongside a userbox box. If this is possible, I would like to know how. widgethocker (talk) 19:07, 19 January 2021 (UTC)- @Widgethocker:, I need an example page to look at, where it's doing the wrong thing when you try it. I had a look at your sandbox, and I don't see a problem there. Can you adjust your sandbox (or other page) so it demonstrates the problem? Mathglot (talk) 20:23, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Mathglot: My apologies. I'm not sure if I was clear enough, but it turns out the width parameter works fine—I had been using it wrong.
- As for the userbox box issue; I have updated my sandbox to illustrate it properly. After doing that, I realized that the problem only occurs when using a small window size—which I almost always do. However, now that I know this, I don't believe there's any way to fix it, and that's fine; I've just linked to the draft page on my userpage instead, which is probably better anyway. Sorry for the confusion. widgethocker (talk) 22:08, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Widgethocker:, no worries, this is all very helpful for optimizing it. I'll probably add something to the documentation as well, based on your experience; also, since this is a wiki, so you can update the doc also, if you wish. When you say, "small window size", do you mean on a mobile device, or something else? If you mean a small window on a laptop, tablet, or other device, can you tell me roughly what size? If you want, feel free to take a snapshot of when you see the problem occurring on a small window, and send it to me. You can email me using the "Email this user" link in the left sidebar while looking at my user page, or clicking this link should work as well.
- I ran a temporary test in your Sandbox, and got the collapse bar to float to the left of the userboxes, but I'm not sure if that's what you wanted or not. It's preserved in the history; you can view it at revision 1001499795. If you like it, just revert my last edit to restore it, and then you can tweak the params to get it just how you like. This version was optimized for a laptop with a 15" screen, but I checked it on a smartphone (using Desktop view) and it looks okay in portrait or landscape mode. In mobile view, it does not look good in portrait mode (horizontally truncated, scrollable), and in landscape mode it's acceptable. Mathglot (talk) 00:01, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

@Mathglot: Your version works nicely in fullscreen on my computer. However, I usually resize my Firefox window to about a quarter of my monitor's size (half vertically and half horizontally), and under those circumstances the template actually ends up on the right side of the screen, below the userboxes. I could change the parameters to look good on my end, but I would prefer it to look nice for everyone else, too. Thus, I think I'll leave my userpage as it is. Thank you very much for your help. widgethocker (talk) 04:20, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- Without seeing that 1/4 size version, I'm pretty sure that's a feature, not a bug: that is, that's just HTML doing what it's supposed to do with block elements that float within a variable size viewport. And, you're welcome! Mathglot (talk) 06:41, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Enhancement: remove ceiling of ten
[edit]Currently, there's a ceiling of returning level 10 nominations as the "next" nomination level number; this depends on discovering that nine levels already exist, and a tenth level is empty (missing). However, there are only a dozen or two articles with more than ten nominations, so this limitation should perhaps be removed. (Two approaches, one just continuing the current, count-up method; the other relying on its rarity, and just #switching all of the articles w >10 noms and returning the level directly.) Some improvements
[edit]A to-do list of nice-to-haves, and things I mean to do:
- Summary box:
- If level=10, then add '(at least)' before "...ten times before".
- If art is now a redirect but used to be an article that was nom'd, add explanation of Article >Afd nom > redirect to the del summary, and link the last nom name.
- Step 1: create a preload and a button for adding afd1 to the article.
- Step 2: in "to create <nom page>", unlink the red link, to guide users towards the other link; or, alternatively, make the red link pipe to the preload file.
- Step 3: in the "How do I do that" box:
- Make the deletion log link open in a new tab (or maybe use a button)
- replace NominationName with correct name.
- Step 4: the "notify WikiProjects via (DelSort)..." instruction is unclear.
- Add configurable editintro's for the {{edit}} links where needed.
