Kang

[edit]

Perhaps an even better title would be just Draft:Kang (Marvel Cinematic Universe)? This may be a bit WP:SPECULATION, but Marvel Studios rarely refers to characters as "___ the ___" beyond a trivial mention, e.g. Drax the Destroyer, Malekith the Accursed, Gorr the God Butcher, Ego the Living Planet, Ronan the Accuser etc. InfiniteNexus (talk) 16:52, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@InfiniteNexus: You're right, moved again. — SirDot (talk) 16:54, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
He was referred to as the Conqueror often in Quantumania. Is that enough to rename the page? -- Zoo (talk) 06:32, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I imagine this page will cover all Kang variants in the MCU, not just Kang the Conqueror. InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:32, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. "Kang" compiles them all under a common name they all use in one way or another. Trailblazer101 (talk) 20:06, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Title should be "Nathaniel Richards (Marvel Cinematic Universe)"

[edit]

Pretty much every single MCU character article is titled with the character's proper name, not their superhero/supervillain title. The only exceptions I can think of are those with the exact same name (Thanos, Shang-Chi). Even if everyone calls Kang by his villain name, I think it should be consistent with the others. HadesTTW (he/him • talk) 17:47, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The character has not been referred to as Nathaniel Richards in the MCU yet, so that name should not be used for this page until it is reflected in the franchise. Trailblazer101 (talk) 19:28, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention "Kang" appears to be the COMMONNAME of the character, similar to Wenwu (vs. "Xu Wenwu") and Rocket (vs. "89P13") InfiniteNexus (talk) 01:30, 24 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

To prevent edit warring

[edit]

@Lutesque Please discuss why you continue to remove the content about Kang being the big bad of the Multiverse Saga here to prevent edit warring. -- Zoo (talk) 20:50, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Enough already. Stop being so difficult. The terrible wording you insist on using emanates right out of a fan-made wiki and not the professional, all-purpose site that Wikipedia is meant to be. If you want to leave it at just "Kang is the main antagonist of the Multiverse Saga" that's one thing but cut it out with ridiculous, impractical terms like "big bad" and "overarching" that, again, NO ONE uses here. Lutesque (talk) 21:53, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think we found a good compromise. -- Zoo (talk) 22:33, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The quote "next big cross-movie villain" needs to be attributed to its author. InfiniteNexus (talk) 23:05, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
 Done -- Zoo (talk) 23:16, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Too much plot summary

[edit]

There is way too much plot summary from a single film (Quantumania) in this article. It needs to be drastically cut down. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 01:40, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Variants

[edit]

I think we should restructure this page to have sections on every (notable) Kang variant. InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:33, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. It can cover Immortus, Rama-Tut, Scarlet Centurion, the Council of Kangs, obviously "He Who Remains", and any others who show up with prominence. Trailblazer101 (talk) 20:06, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. This is gonna be a unique character page, so I'm sure it'll evolve a lot over the coming years. Should we start by going back to how we had it before Quantumania and re-add He Who Remains to the biography, or keep him in the alternate versions? -- Zoo (talk) 20:15, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should go with level 3 headings under Fictional character biography for each variant. Or maybe that's too messy. InfiniteNexus (talk) 20:25, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that'll be fine for now. Pretty sure that's what we were originally doing. -- Zoo (talk) 20:45, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We probably should go with that route given every version is an alternate version, so the approach for prior variants, ie at Loki and Gamora's articles, would not technically apply. I see this article becoming a composite of all the details surrounding the Kang variants, so one won't technically be the focal point of the article, rather the notable ones all will. Trailblazer101 (talk) 20:50, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I made sections for each of the main variants so far. Not sure how much the order matters of the ones from the credit scenes, although I put Timely after Kang due to him likely having a bigger role first with season 2 of Loki. -- Zoo (talk) 20:58, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We should order by appearance, rather than subjectively. InfiniteNexus (talk) 22:20, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For the moment, I would keep in the fictional biography section only the relevant variants. Imo, only He Who Remains and the Quantumania variant are relevant for the moment. We can put Victor Timely in an “Other versions” section, at least for now. Redjedi23 (talk) 13:34, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This draft is unlikely to make it to mainspace until The Kang Dynasty comes along, unless he makes another appearance after Loki season 2. InfiniteNexus (talk) 19:40, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Timely's first appearance

[edit]

For Victor Timely, do we consider his first appearance as Quantumania even though the credit scene is from Loki? -- Zoo (talk) 00:52, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For simplicity, I would say yes. InfiniteNexus (talk) 01:36, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
