El encargado (English: The Boss) is an Argentine comedy drama television series created by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat originally for Star+. Starring Guillermo Francella in the lead role, it follows the life of a doorman of a high-class apartment building in Belgrano, Buenos Aires, dealing with some problems with the neighbors who don't want him anymore as doorman and want to remove his job. To avoid this, he is resorting to unethical moves to keep his job, like invading the privacy of the owners of the apartments.[1] Gabriel Goity, Moro Anghileri, Gastón Cocchiarale, and Pochi Ducasse also star in supporting roles.

The series was released on Star+ in Latin America on 26 October 2022, while it is available on Hulu for the United States and Europe. A second season was announced in November 2022 and was released on 29 November 2023. The same month, a third season was confirmed, which is scheduled to be released on 19 July 2024 on Disney+ following its fusion with Star+ in Latin America.[2]

Premise[edit]

The series tells, with tones of irony and humor, the story of Eliseo, the manager of an upper-class building, who, secretly from the consortium that employs him, uses and abuses his surveillance power to interfere in the lives of the inhabitants of the building and thus, on the one hand, shows a helpful attitude towards them and on the other, manipulates them for his own benefit.
