Elijah Oluwaseun Omokagbor (born September 9, 1987) known professionally as Esophur is Nigerian singer and songwriter and record producer, he is best known for his Afrobeats album "blessed" which emerged album of the year at the Paradise Music Festival and Awards.[1]

Background and education

Esophur was born in Ikorodu, Lagos State but he originally hails from Edo State. He attended Methodist high school in idanre and proceeded to obtain an undergraduate degree from the University of Ibadan[2]

Career

Before venturing into music, Esophur had a different path with a background in IT engineering and a successful career in the corporate world, music was always a passion project. However, with time his music eventually took the centre stage.

He was Inspired by the likes of Fela Kuti, King Sunny Adé and Opelope Anointing (His Mother), Esophur began experimenting with music production and songwriting. Before going fully into singing with a blend of traditional African rhythms and modern beats.[1]

Esophur released his debut album titled "Blessed" in April 2024, the album which is made up of 6 tracks has so far gained traction on social media and is making waves globally with over a million streams so far on digital streaming platforms. He described the album as a celebration of life, culture and the Afrobeats genre, the album won Album of the year at the Paradise Music Festival and awards.[3][4]
