Eva Julianna Gaetino (born December 17, 2002) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for Division 1 Féminine club Paris Saint-Germain. She played college soccer for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Early life[edit]

Gaetino was born in Chesapeake, Virginia, and raised in Dexter, Michigan.[3] She played club soccer for the Michigan Hawks of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), winning the ECNL national title in 2017.[4] She graduated from Dexter High School.[4]

College career[edit]

Gaetino played four seasons as the starting center back for Notre Dame from 2020 to 2023.[4] In her junior and senior years in 2022 and 2023, she was named first-team All-ACC, first-team All-American, and ACC Defensive Player of the Year.[4][5][6] In those two seasons, she anchored a Fighting Irish defense that recorded 20 shutouts, including three in the first three rounds of the 2022 NCAA tournament.[4][7]

Club career[edit]

Gaetino signed with Paris Saint-Germain on January 23, 2024, forgoing the 2024 NWSL Draft in which she was predicted to be highly selected.[8][9] The signing reunited her with Notre Dame teammate and friend Korbin Albert.[10] She scored her first professional goal on March 20 against BK Häcken on her UEFA Women's Champions League debut, becoming the youngest American to score in the tournament.[11][12]

International career[edit]

Gaetino played friendlies for the United States national under-23 team in 2023.[4] She was first called up to the senior national team for the 2024 SheBelieves Cup.[12]
