Français : L'auteur, capitaine instructeur à SaintCyr, a obtenu de son ami Ie commandant d'Elbée de participer aux essais de la «Libellule», sous-marin qui vient d'être lancé à Bizerte. Hélas ! après quelques heures de traversée, déchirée par l'éperon d'un navire inconnu, la « Libellule », à moitié envahie par l'eau, s'échoue par le fond. Le capitaine Danrit est enfermé dans le compartiment du tube lance-torpilles en compagnie du quartier-maître Yvonnec.
