| Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The clip contains two scenes that had a strong effect on audiences at the time of the film's release: Regan masturbating with a crucifix and her head spinning around to face backwards, the latter of which was a special effect that took considerable time to make convincing on camera. Both are discussed at some length in reliably sourced commentary at several points in the article.
The scene also includes a take where Burstyn suffered a fractured tailbone when she struck the floor. She did not get adequate treatment for it at the time and only later learned how extensive the injury was; complications from it continue to be an issue for her. |
