Gérard Eskénazi (born November 10, 1931 in Paris) is a French banker.[1]
Biography[edit]
A graduate of HEC Paris, a law degree and a graduate in economics, he joined Paribas in 1957 as an executive assistant and became general manager of Paribas in 1978. After the nationalization of the bank in 1981, he tried, at alongside Pierre Moussa, to regain control, thanks to the support of Albert Frère and Paul Desmarais, and the Pargesa holding company. After failing, he was ousted from Paribas and took charge of Pargesa.[2]
Vice-president and managing director of the Brussels Lambert group in 1982, he became president and CEO of Parfinance in 1986.[3]
The Comipar holding company was created in 1991, of which he was president. He was president of Pallas-Stern from 1993 to 1995.[4]
